Screening - EN

The Health Service organises awareness campaigns to promote healthier lifestyles and to help people make sure the right precautions are in place at work so they can avoid exposure to chemicals that may be detrimental to their health.
Screening programmes are an important way to prevent cancer.

The programme is free of charge and is offered to people who have no symptoms, who have never had the disease before and are in the age group that is classed most at risk for that type of pathology.

There are currently three screening programmes for the prevention and early diagnosis of cancer in the province of Reggio Emilia that are promoted by the Region of Emilia Romagna, Santa Maria Nuova Hospital and Reggio Emilia Local Health Authority:

  • prevention and early diagnosis of cervical cancer (women aged between 25 and 64)
  • prevention and early diagnosis of breast cancer (women aged between 45 and 74)
  • prevention and early diagnosis of colorectal cancer (men and women aged between 50 and 69)
Each screening programme starts with an invitation to go for screening delivered directly to the home addresses of those living in the province of Reggio Emilia who meet the requisites for the screening programme in question.
